Upon the conclusion of World War II many Seabees and CEC officers returned home with artifacts, photos, journals and other invaluable items that documented and commemorated their experiences. The facility that houses these materials is now inadequate to appropriately preserve and display such national treasures, making a new museum a necessity.
The Mission
The mission of the U.S. Navy Seabee Museum is . . .
“To preserve, protect and promote the 'Can Do' spirit of the Seabees and the Civil Engineer Corps.”
The Museum
The exciting new U.S. Navy Seabee Museum will be a 35,000 square foot facility that engages visitors of all ages, backgrounds and levels of knowledge through unique, entertaining exhibits, which also provide numerous educational opportunities. The museum and its programs will enable over 100,000 visitors every year to experience:
- Discovery - of information in their own way and at their own pace
- Adventure - through exciting exhibits that tell the Seabee story utilizing an array of media and technology
- Appreciation - for the contribution, commitment and capabilities of the Seabees/CEC
